Masters program in Optical Technologies

The Faculties of Mechanical Engineering and of Mathematics and Physics in close cooperation with the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) have established the new masters course in the field of "Optical Technologies" (M.Sc.) at the Leibniz University Hannover.

The goal of the masters course is to educate and train specialists and executive staff for the optical industry in Germany, as detailed in the German Agenda for Optical Technologies in the 21st Century. The Hanover region profits from its highly developed culture of basic research centered around the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, excellent applied sciences at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the LZH, and a close collaboration with industry.

The degree:

  • Master of Science (M.Sc.)


  • English

Course duration:

  • 4 semesters

Course beginning:

  • Every year at the start of the winter semester

Course requirements:

  • Bachelor, Diplom or Staatsexamen in physics or engineering
  • Certificate of neccessary credit points
